Guiding Principles

Beacon of Light Spiritual Community is a community for people looking for spiritual growth without a required creed, label, or intermediary—who choose peace, respect, and dignity in how we treat each other. We welcome many paths, and no one claims authority over another’s inner life. We hold that Spirit lives within each of us, and that real guidance begins from that inner connection.

About Beacon of Light Spiritual Community

Beacon of Light Spiritual Community exists to support people who want a real, direct relationship with the sacred, known by many names (Spirit, Source, God, the Universe) - without requiring a creed, a label, or an intermediary.

We hold that every individual has an innate connection to the sacred. That connection is not something you earn or borrow from someone else—it’s already within you, and it can be strengthened through presence, practice, and lived experience.

We recognize each member as a sovereign individual—unbound, free, and responsible for their choices. Our community honors self-reliance, self-sufficiency, and self-discipline, not as rigid ideals, but as a grounded way of living in integrity. We welcome people across race, orientation, identity, and background, because we believe inherent rights are not granted by human institutions—they are innate within us and born from Nature itself, the source of life and the deeper law that sustains it. With that freedom comes responsibility, including the sacred responsibility for personal health and bodily integrity.

Guided by ancestral wisdom and a commitment to truth, we uphold the right of conscientious objection. We view conscientious objection as a sincere expression of reverence for life—an act rooted in the understanding that all life is interconnected and sacred. For us, true strength is not found in domination or violence, but in harmony, compassion, and mutual respect for ourselves, our community and for Mother Earth.

At Beacon of Light, we gather to seek truth, grow in awareness, and walk a path that honors both personal freedom, personal responsibility, and shared responsibility—grounded in peace, truth, dignity, and the living web of existence.

No Required Creed

We welcome people of diverse spiritual, religious, and humanist paths. No single belief is required for belonging.

  3. We embrace acceptance and encouragement of spiritual growth, honoring diverse paths, transcending race, orientation, or preference.
  4. We affirm a free and respectful search for truth and meaning, guided by conscience and ancestral wisdom.
  5. We support the right of conscience and the freedom of individual choice, honoring conscientious objection as an expression of peace and respect for life.
  6. We envision a world community of peace, liberty, and respect for all, grounded in mutual respect, personal responsibility, and harmony with nature and Mother Earth.
  7. We respect the interdependent web of all existence, knowing that all life is interconnected, sacred, and sustained through balance.
  8. We affirm the sacred responsibility for personal health and bodily integrity, recognizing the right of every individual to make independent decisions about their own body and well-being.

Community Covenant

We come together as sovereign people—free in conscience, equal in dignity, and connected to Spirit, Source, and the Universe. This covenant is how we protect that space, and how we treat one another inside it.

How we show up

  • We meet each other with basic respect—in speech, tone, and behavior.
  • We honor the worth and dignity of every person, even when we disagree.
  • We practice respect and humility : nobody here has the final word on truth.

Freedom of belief, no coercion

  • No one is pressured to adopt a belief, label, practice, or identity.
  • We share our path as personal experience, not as a rule for others.
  • We don’t recruit, manipulate, shame, or use fear to influence anyone.

Consent and boundaries

  • Consent is required for any spiritual practice that involves another person (prayer, laying on hands, energy work, readings, guided journeys, etc.).
  • “No” is complete and respected—no pushing, no bargaining, no guilt.
  • We ask before offering advice, and we accept a decline without taking it personally.

Respectful Truth-seeking

  • We honor a free and respectful search for truth and meaning.
  • We speak from “I” language: “This is what I’ve lived / learned / experienced.”
  • We don’t present speculation as certainty, and we don’t claim authority over someone else’s inner life.

Welcome and belonging

  • We welcome people across race, orientation, identity, and background.
  • We do not condone the use of harassment, intimidation, or dehumanizing language.
  • If harm happens, we choose repair and accountability over denial or blame-shifting.

Confidentiality

  • What is shared in community stays in community, unless someone gives clear permission to share it.
  • The exception is safety: if there is credible risk of imminent harm to self or others, we act to protect life and wellbeing.

Conflict, repair, and accountability

  • We address conflict directly and respectfully—no gossip campaigns, no triangulation.
  • We assume misunderstandings are possible, but we don’t excuse repeated harm.
  • When someone is hurt, we aim for: acknowledgment → repair → changed behavior.

Community decisions

  • We support consensus building in community matters: transparency, participation, and fair voice.
  • Leadership exists to serve the community, not control it.
  • Decisions are made with integrity and handled openly and responsibly.

Peace and conscientious objection

  • We honor conscience, truth, and the commitment to peace.
  • We respect conscientious objection as a sincere expression of reverence for life.

Bodily integrity and personal responsibility

  • We affirm bodily integrity and each person’s right to make independent decisions about their own body and wellbeing.
  • With that freedom comes responsibility: we act with respect toward ourselves and toward the community. We respect each person’s decisions and do not force opinions or decisions on others.

By participating in Beacon of Light Spiritual Community, we agree to live this covenant—to protect this space, to respect each person’s sovereignty, and to walk in dignity, truth-seeking, and peace. To protect the space, if the covenant is repeatedly violated, facilitators may pause participation, set conditions for return, or ask someone to leave—always with transparency and respect. We also want to be clear about scope: we don’t provide medical, legal, or mental health treatment. We can share experience and support, and we encourage people to seek professional help when needed.
